SEO And Domains
Search Engine Optimization…hmmm…basically, in a nutshell, it is gauged by how relevant your site is to a particular search term.
There are many factors that a search engine will take into consideration when generating an ordered list of queries…
Today I am just going to cover one.
Domains
Is Domain Age Crucial for SEO?
Umm…yes.
A huge benefit of old domains are the pre existing links and page rank. They will still pass page rank and some authority even though they may not be relevant to the new content.
Also, since an older, seasoned domain will cost more than just starting a new one, search engines consider this in deciding quality. While they do not know how much the domain cost, they can, in WHOIS, access the date of registration to determine age.
Here’s a fact. Search engines classify an exact match to a domain as a navigation query. What does that mean in English?
If someone is searching for “buy car in Merrillville” and your website is “buycarinmerrillville.com,” you may be shown as the authority for “buy car in Merrillville.” With a few good links and quality content, you can rank on the top of the search query.
This is, however most effective in a non-competitive market. It will reguire much work and time if the market is overcrowded. For example, with a term like acne treatment, there are 7,270,000 competitors. I wouldn’t hold my breath. But, this can work great in a less competitive market place.
