Overview
Data Management essentially provides the ability to organize information, usually through an application for viewing the information (often a web browser such as Internet Explorer) or a database. Data Management has become increasingly affordable and efficient with the advancement of web design tools. Making the data easily accessible across various platforms and over the Internet, it can now be displayed through browsers via HTML and scripting languages (such as PHP),
Although any type of data can be managed, it is especially useful to organize information such as product information, address books and contact lists, schedules, real estate listings, and automotive information for dealerships. Data Management offers a single source for accessing data for updates, additions and deletions as well as unlimited reporting capabilities.
What's Included
For data management projects, we'll create a MySQL database* as well as any tables within the database you might need (for example, a customer table storing name, address, and phone numbers or a product table including available options for each product).
We can also integrate the database into any new or existing website using a programming language called PHP*. These pages can allow customers to create or view orders, maintain their contact information as well as an endless list of other possibilities.
We'll also create any necessary administrative pages to view, modify, delete or add records into the database tables. These pages can reside in a password protected area for your security.
Each website is custom to the your specific needs to ensure that you are getting exactly what's right for you without having to pay for features that you do not need. It is a cost-effective way to manage your business data utilizing the power and functionality of the Internet. These projects are completely editable, scalable and fresh pages can (and should) be added at any time.
*NOTE: There are other types of databases and programming languages instead of PHP and MySQL. However, we have extensive knowledge using these tools and only take on projects using them. All of our hosting plans offer both MySQL and PHP but if you are using another hosting service, we suggest you contact them to find out if they are available for your website.
Data Management Pricing:
All costs are quoted per job, based on a variety of factors including the amount of information that will be managed, how it will be managed and the tools that will be required to manage it. The largest cost associated with data management is the initial planning and development. Generally, a fee of $90/hour billed in partial hours with a 15 minute minimum is charged for programming and any data entry. Additional costs for graphic design as well as HTML design may apply.
Would "Boxed" be best for you?
If your company is looking into data management, you have most likely already considered the application cost verses the potential benefits to your company. Another comparison to consider is the cost and benefit of a custom developed application (what we offer) verses a "boxed" version. Boxed versions may be more expensive since you have to pay for each user who will be accessing the application. Also, you may have to buy tools for the application that you won't even use -- while having to pay for additional tools or "add-ons" that do not come standard.
Prepackaged software generally offers limited options for manipulating and viewing data, and is copyrighted to keep designers from making changes to it. Custom designed software offers limitless options and we can add and change the software to suit your needs. However, there my be cases where a boxed solution will work best -- especially if there is an inexpensive option out there that offers what you need. Contact Amplify and we can help determine which option will be best for you based on your requirements.

How is Data Management beneficial?
One of the most attractive benefit of the Internet is the ability to share large amounts of data with relative ease. This is also true of Intranets - local networks that connect a company's computers at a single location. Software technology has furthered this convenience by providing universal portals by which you can view data in a pleasing and familiar interface such as a browser like Internet Explorer. Previously, companies had to hire programmers to create custom software to view and manipulate data. Now, some web designers are able to integrate this service into their development.
